Ocean Hill Community Centre

The existing 2,000 sq. ft. facility with no definite identity of its own is presently located on the first floor of the apartment tower facing MacDougal Street and Broadway in Brooklyn, NY.

The proposed 5,000 sq. ft. totally renovated center will comply with present day code and expanded facility enjoys the prominent corner site, which is extremely visible from the elevated train running along Broadway. This corner location for the new building has been fully exploited with use of angular geometry, which responds to the site configuration.

The dynamic sculptural building form with use of sloped roofs will provide a constantly changing image of the building when viewed from the moving train and different vantage points at the street level. The exterior and interior treatment with use of square, colored glazed blocks and ground-faced masonry provides a very playful and cheerful interior and exterior environment.
